Since 1944, the National Sweet Corn Festival boasts in excess of 50 tons of free sweetcorn, a grand parade, musical entertainment, demo derbies, truck and tractor pulls, car shows, horse show, and flea markets. In addition, a 1 mile fun run/walk, local art show/competition, children's fishing derby, carnival rides, midway games, and national sweetheart pageant round out the festivities.
Get on the corn bandwagon, spreading word about the nutritional benefits of corn. Sweet corn is loaded with lutein and zeaxanthin, two phytochemicals that promote healthy vision. A midsize ear also offers a helpful 3-gram dose of dietary fiber.
