Declaration of Independence: Official Signing Anniversary

Even though the Declaration was established and preliminarily signed in draft form by John Hancock and Charles Thomson on July 4, 1776, the signing of the official declaration was done on August 2, 1776. Fifty men were believed to have taken part, and others added their names later in the year.
