Ada Lovelace Day is an opportunity for the international community to celebrate the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering, and math. Grassroots events are held around the world. Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace was considered the first computer programmer, and was a close friend of Charles Babbage, who conceived a general purpose computing machine called the Analytical Engine. This event is held annually the second Tuesday in October.
STEM careers are the future of the world. While STEM is known to be a male-centered career path, it is equally attractive to female students and workers. This event can help promote the possibilities for STEM careers to a larger audience.
