Veterans Day is celebrated each year on November 11. It originated on November 11, 1919 marking the end of World War I and was formerly called Armistice Day. In 1971 the holiday was changed to be the fourth Monday in October. This moveable holiday proved unpopular, and Veteran's Day was returned to the traditional November 11 date in 1975. Many places observe a silent memorial at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
Metro's Creative Library is chock full of images and other content that can help area publications commemorate Veterans Day and all military service professionals.
