December 12th, 2020
Poinsettia Day is a time to celebrate the popular holiday plant. It also is a time to commemorate Joel Roberts Poinsett, who was the American diplomat who introduced the poinsettia (named for himself) to the United States. December 12th was chosen for the holiday because it is the day in 1851 when Poinsett died in South Carolina.
