Pink Shirt Day was established to raise awareness of bullying and to be a platform for showing support against the practice. It has humble beginnings in 2007 in Nova Scotia, Canada. A student was being bullied for wearing a pink shirt, but several students decided to take a stand and wore pink shirts in solidarity. Inspired by this act of kindness CKNW Kids' Fund, working with partners Boys & Girls Clubs and CKNW 980, was inspired to raise funds to support anti-bullying programs. And the efforts continue to this day.
Help put a stop to bullying a step at a time. Encourage community-wide wearing of pink shirts in honor of anti-bullying efforts. Businesses can sponsor the event by putting discounts on pink shirts and schools and asking employees to don pink as well.
