The non-profit Hobo Day Association sponsors Britt Hobo Days in Britt, Iowa each year. The event helps shed light on the migratory workers known as "hobos" who helped pitch in for America's labor needs across the country after the Civil War. While hoboes were once valued workers, eventually the name took on negative connotations to signify tramps and vagrants. However, the National Hobo Museum and Britt Hobo Days help others recognize the storied history of American hobos.
